Rob's Automotive continues a long tradition of expert service and quality workmanship. The Roemer family has been a part of this community from the very begining. Being a descendant of the Roemer, Hiscox, and Healy families, owner Rob Roemer's ancestry can be traced back to the captain of the Mayflower, Captain Christopher Jones. His lineage also includes Hezekiah Healy who owned and built The Black Tavern on Center Rd. in Dudley. His Great-Great-Grandfather laid the cornerstone to the First Congregational Church of Dudley Conant Memorial in 1890 and his father, Dale Roemer, laid the cornerstone for the Steir Wing addition 100 years later in 1990.

Not only was the Roemer family involved in the building of some of the areas most beloved historical buildings, they were also a large part of local commerce. The pictures displayed in the showroom are from the turn of the century when Rob's great-grandfather, Emil Roemer, opened the first automobile dealership in the area, selling Hudson, Maxwell, and Ford motor cars, as well as Edison Phonographs and Edison Disks, and several brands of bicycles. The Roemer family owned shops on School Streeet and Mechanics Street in Webster, as well as Pine Street in Dudley. The Pine Street garage was owned by Fred Roemer. Pieces of a sign from one of these garages can be seen hanging over the service window here at Rob's Automotive.

In 1927 Emil decided to sell the franchise to George Place Senior. They are currently in business as Place Motors, selling Ford automobiles. It wasn't until 2008 when Rob opened Rob's Automotive out of his backyard garage that the Roemer legacy continued. After a successfull start, the business became to large for the old shop and was moved to 138 West Main Street in Dudley, MA in February 2011.
